Jojoba Oil vs Ghee: Which Is Better for Your Skin Type?
Two of the most revered ingredients in natural skincare — and both sit at the heart of Inherited Skincare's formulations. Jojoba oil and washed organic ghee are very different substances with very different origins, but they share a quality that makes them both exceptional: they work with the skin's biology rather than simply sitting on top of it.
Jojoba Oil: Nature's Closest Wax to Skin Sebum
Technically speaking, jojoba is not an oil at all — it's a liquid wax ester, cold-pressed from the seeds of the Simmondsia chinensis shrub. This matters because human skin sebum is also largely composed of wax esters. Jojoba does not block pores, can signal to overactive sebaceous glands to reduce production, and resists oxidation — making it suitable for virtually every skin type, particularly oily, combination, and blemish-prone skin.
Washed Organic Ghee: Deep Nourishment from an Ancient Source
Ghee is rich in vitamins A, D, E, and K, short and medium-chain fatty acids, and butyric acid — a short-chain fatty acid with anti-inflammatory properties that supports the skin microbiome. Ghee is best suited to dry, mature, and very dehydrated skin — or anyone looking for serious barrier restoration.
Can You Use Both?
Absolutely — and this is exactly what we do at Inherited Skincare. Jojoba and ghee are highly complementary. Jojoba provides compatibility and balance; ghee provides depth and nourishment. Together in a well-formulated moisturiser, they deliver a broad-spectrum emolliency that suits a wide range of skin types.
The Best of Both Worlds
Our Deep Nourishing Cream combines washed organic ghee and jojoba oil with turmeric for a moisturiser that genuinely works for all skin types — nourishing without heaviness, balancing without stripping.
